To get inspired for our opening reception, we recently took a road-trip around The Bronx. We want to see if you can tell us the names of at least 6 of these important landmarks in The Bronx to win some cool prizes at our upcoming launch party.
From January 31st until February 11th, we will post one picture daily at 6:00 p.m. of our logo at a historically or culturally significant Bronx location. Everyone who reposts at least 6 pictures with the correct answer and the hashtag #BxArtsFactory via Facebook, Instagram or Twitter will be eligible to win a one-of-a-kind piece of art from a Bronx artist and a BxArts Factory t-shirt at our launch event at The Bronx Museum of the Arts on Thursday, February 12, 2015.
So stay tuned for the start of the contest on January 31st. We look forward to your answers and hashtags and can't wait to meet you all on February 12th!
BxArts Factory is pleased to present the commissioned sign of our logo, which was originally designed by Laura Alvarez.
Done by the Bronx based artist, Josue Guarionex Colon, this three-dimensional reproduction of our logo reflects constructivism intersecting with the prospect of conceptual thinking to solve the complex challenge of sculpting an "artistic work" without interrupting the free flow and organic aesthetic of the materials. There is a great sense of presence and the suggestion of the contemplative and the active, seemingly co-existing in suspension and uneasy harmony. This interplay is realized with purposeful admixture of absence and presence through the vintage surface of wood and metal resulting in integrative evanescent, billowy passages of light. As a result Josue Guarionex Colon offers us a sensual play of dramatic structure contrasts that is both grounded and ungrounded, invoking the attainment of formerly hidden insights.

“This free event will be filled with artists performing and creating art live for the

“We will also feature our introductory video, among other surprises, and offer
refreshments. Come celebrate with us as we launch this amazing organization!”
Visiones Culturales is now part of the Bx Arts Factory, a new non-profit organization created to grow the number and effectiveness of artists working to make the Arts accessible to residents of The Bronx.

We're making progress! We're now ready to accept donations via the web and are excited to reach out to you to support the important work of our organization. Bx Arts Factory is a newly created non-profit organization in The Bronx. BxArts Factory is a not-for-profit organization founded to provide a space to support local artists working in the Bronx. We plan to assist affiliated artists to engage and advance the Arts in communities throughout the borough via a diverse set of arts-oriented programming and services. Through collaborations with local artists and community based organizations, we will offer dynamic arts education programming that incorporates all of the fine arts. While curriculum development and curation of art exhibits will be completed by our program directors, classroom based activities will be led by our in-house, teaching artists. The BxArts Factory intends to provide unique and engaging experiences to advance the Arts and cultural education in the Bronx.
BxArts Factory is a project visualized by Laura Alvarez (local artist), Twahira Khan (Community Activist), Alexis Mendoza (founder of Alexis Mendoza Curatorial Projects) and Yolanda L. Rodriguez (founder and director of Visiones Culturales, Inc.). These four individuals bring forth knowledge and experience that will secure the success of this development. BxArts Factory will also include the talents of local Bronx artists and community members Latanya DeVaughn, Josue Guarionex Colon, Yarisa Colon and Masiel Ureña.
This project was filmed with many special thanks to Valarie Irizarry and Walter Puryer at the Andrew Freedman Home in the Highbridge area of The Bronx, NY.
