We are happy to introduce to you our 2016-2017 Advisory Committee! After a few months of a competitive selection process we have carefully chosen a group of dynamic and committed individuals to join us in our mission to bring art to every household. Each member enthusiastically told us about their experiences with art at home and in their Bronx neighborhoods. We hope you enjoy reading a bit about each of them and help us welcome them with love and light. We present to you our 2016-2017 Advisory Committee Members! We asked them to answer these questions and they wrote from their heart: How have the arts and the creative process impacted your life? & Do you think the arts can have an impact in the lives of Bronxites and their families? Find their answers here. Thanks to John Maney, Yolanda L. Rodriguez, Trevon Blondet and Shardy Nieves for the photos

Each year the Bronx Museum, together with Transportation Alternatives, the NYC Department of Health, Bronx Health Reach and over 30 other organizations, has closed the middle lanes of the Grand Concourse to cars and opened it to a world of fun with free music, activities, and programs. In 2014 we welcomed 2,500 guests, and in 2015 over 7,500 guests joined in on the festivities.
This year Boogie on the Boulevard will be reallocating the center lanes of the historic Grand Concourse from 162nd Street to 170th Street for vibrant cultural, health, and active programming for FIVE Sundays; the last Sundays of the summer months: May 29, June 26, July 31, August 28, and September 25, from 12pm to 4pm. This year The Bronx Museum of the Arts, together with BxArts Factory, the Andrew Freedman Home, BronxWorks, and other arts organizations and individual artists will host art-making activities, face painting, arts demonstrations, performances, and more on two blocks, from 165th to 167th Streets, on the Grand Concourse. Would you like to be a participating artist? Do you have an artwork project that just needs a (large) public space? Are you a dancer that would like to do a dance class, an actor that would like to do a play for the community and maybe do an improvisation workshop? Do you knit, paint, sculpt, create books, sings, or performs? Our goal is to have a creative hub featuring artists making live art, teaching workshops, creating studio/gallery outdoor experiences, and engaging the community through creativity. We are looking for artists to volunteer their time on one or more of the Sundays. This is a great opportunity for you to participate and engage with the projected 10,000+ Bronx community members and visitors that will attend the event in 2016. If you are an artist that enjoys the interactions with community members, this is your chance! Please email us with the below information by Tuesday, March 18th at info@bxartsfactory.org to join in the fun. - Name or collective - Organization, if you are associated with one - Phone number - Dates you’d like to participate - Type of activity or idea ![]() We are rapidly approaching our one-year anniversary and couldn't have done it without your love and support. We are tremendously grateful. Our connection to you is important to us and our organization. We are thrilled to be working with this dedicated group of people and are excited to introduce them to you. We cannot wait to unveil our next year of events and programming, including our very first Crowd-funding Campaign. Stay tuned!
